The school enrolment in 2014 reached to 512 students. The first batch of Class XII with 342 students produced the brilliant results, occupying every university colleges. The overall pass percentage was outstanding. Five students booked the scholarship slots and that was our great academic achievement at the initial stage. The year 2015 too was another momentous year for Dungsam Academy. Many regular and supplementary students got admission to RUB colleges. In 2017 the school received Significant Improvement Certificate from MoE. This was another academic milestone for DA to be proud among many well established Pvt. Schools. The history goes on and now the school is on its 9th year and soon celebrating a decade of establishment.

Location:

Dungsam Academy is at the outskirt of two ancient historical towns of south Eastern Bhutan, Dewathang and Samdrup Jongkhar. It is located just 4 Km down from Dewathang town and 14 Km up from Samdrup Jongkhar town and 650 meter away from S/Jongkahr-Trashigang highway. It is about 22Km north from Daranga, Bhutan-Assam oldest trading town known as Gudama or Melabzazar where bura ghos, kiras, rachu and kabneys are available and sold at cheaper rates.

There is no settlement in and around the school and it is completely isolated from urban disturbances. The location itself signify calm and peaceful place with conducive environment for studies and that is how many of our low achieving students do well and pass out from DA.

Facilities

Dungsam Academy has excellent academic building blended with traditional Bhutanese architecture having enough classrooms, three science laboratories, two ICT laboratories, three ICT based classrooms, library hall with adequate library books, staff rooms and offices. The school has two well furnished dormitories that can accommodate more than 150 boys and 150 girls. The school provides basic food and lodging amenities such as plates, mugs, mattress and pillows.

The school also provides basic indoor and outdoor sports facilities such as football ground, basket ball and volleyball courts and TT boards.

The purpose

The school admits both high and low achievers to interact and blend the learning experiences. The students with years of study gaps after BCSE are also admitted and nurture them to get into the RUB Institutions. The school has reserved a total of 15 slots for high achievers from both supplementary and regulars. The school admits as many as govt. scholarship students.
